Mission Statement

The John F. Kennedy Atlantic Forum is a private initiative of Europeans and Americans who believe deeply that the Western vision of open societies and free market economy offers the best means to build individual freedom and human well being in a complex globalized world.

President Kennedy was strongly committed to the Atlantic community, its values and its modernizing mission for the world. Fifty years later, a new world is steadily being created. The next chapter of the unique Berlin- American relationship is being written by thousands of young people who are inspired to link the two shores of the Atlantic with an entrepreneurial spirit.

The basic goal of the JFK Forum will be to tap this spirit by bringing leaders of business, government and academia together with entrepreneurs to create a new sort of trans-Atlantic dialogue.

Working with our sponsors and our partner organization, the European School of Management and Technology, our method will be to create dialogues among entrepreneurs and members of civil society. Our goal will be to insert the principles of entrepreneurship more actively into the operating principles of the Atlantic community. Our dialogues, seminars and research will be based on actual business case examples. The programs will be directed by ESMT, sponsoring companies or by groups of entrepreneurs themselves.

The Forum will be operated in cooperation between the John F. Kennedy Atlantic Forum gGmbH and the European School for Management and Technology in Berlin. Private sponsors will provide financing. A Management Committee chaired by the JFK Forum and ESMT will determine the program. Members will be corporate sponsors of the Forum, representatives of ESMT and other participating companies and academic experts.
"As we look steadily eastward in the hope and purpose of new freedom, we must also look--and evermore closely--to our trans-Atlantic ties… The Atlantic Community will not soon become a single overarching superstate. But practical steps toward stronger common purpose are well within our means….

Our partnership is not military alone. Economic unity is also imperative-not only among the nations of Europe, but across the wide Atlantic."

John F. Kennedy
